Award-winning food writer Mark Bittman to launch original podcast “Food with Mark Bittman”

May 18, 2021—Mark Bittman, best known for his multiple bestselling books, including How to Cook Everything and VB6, and his three decades at the New York Times, will debut a new original podcast, “Food with Mark Bittman,” on Airwave Media on May 24, 2021.

“Food with Mark Bittman” brings a fresh perspective to both food enthusiasts and general audiences. By matching Bittman’s unique breadth of knowledge about food—ranging from simple cooking to a keen understanding of the intricacies of policy and agriculture—with his ability to explain it in a way people can relate to, the podcast will cover all aspects of food, and accessibly. Guests include celebrities, cooks, chefs, farmers, activists, policymakers, and food-lovers in general, ranging from kids to grandmas. “Food” will be fun and enjoyable, but serious and informative too.

Season one will feature topical food-oriented interviews with such guests as Nigella Lawson, Ted Danson, Tom Colicchio, Jane Goodall, Carla Hall, Moby, Eric Ripert, Dawn Davis, and others. His interviews will be interspersed with cooking tips, Bittman’s famously clever commentary on serious issues from junk food to sustainability, and answers to food and cooking questions from listeners.

The first episode features an interview with Nigella Lawson in a conversation about cooking exhaustion (or lack therof), why Nigella is NOT a celebrity chef, and the many problems with the term ‘guilty pleasures.’ A trailer for the show can be found here. “Food” will be available for free across all major platforms including Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Pandora, Spotify, Stitcher, TuneIn, and more.

Bittman says “I'm really happy to be joining the legions of brave podcasters out there and to throw my name into the robust food selection. I hope to offer something unique – both fun and serious, focusing on every aspect of food, from policy to cooking to the frustrations and joys.”

Airwave Chief Content Officer Ben Mathis adds, “We’re thrilled to be working with Mark Bittman and bringing his voice to the airwaves on his new podcast. No one on the planet knows more about food and cooking than Mark, and his enthusiasm and passion are infectious as he celebrates the joy of cooking while also drawing attention to important food issues that affect us and our planet.”
